Quiche

This week I decided to try to make a quiche! I thought it would be an easy recipe to try, especially as a beginner learning to cook. I thought it would be easy because it did not require much cooking on the stovetop. Instead, it was a matter of perfecting the batter and cheese topping.
I followed SpendwithPennies quiche recipe! Below are the ingredients and steps:
Ingredients:
- 1 refrigerated pie crust
- 6 large eggs
- 3/4 cup of cream
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup cooked ham chopped
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese divided
- 3 tablespoons green onions
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Take out thawed pie shell crust
- In a large bowl, mix together eggs, cream, salt, pepper
- Add in the ham and green onions and mix together
- Sprinkle cheese until there is some floating on top
- Bake for 25-40 minutes until the centre and inside is set
- Let cool for 5-10 minutes then enjoy!
Although these were the instructions of the recipe, I deviated slightly and improvised. For example, because I am a student and only one person, instead of using a whole cooked ham, I decided to use spam due to its versatility in portion sizes. I also did not follow the exact measurements for the cheese and green onions. This is because I personalized this part to my liking and preference. I really like green onions and cheese, therefore I added more than the recipe asked for, until I was content with the amount I had. I believe this improvisation I made is the first step toward creating my own beginner recipe! Above is a photo of how my quiche turned out!
Stay tuned for my cooking adventure next week!
Your quiche looks delicious! I do not think I have ever made quiche with crust before. I know, crazy crazy. The recipe you used looks really good. I think I will have to try this recipe and try using a crust for once.
