Welcome to my first free inquiry post on learning to cook!

What is my Inquiry Question?

How can I, as an unexperienced cook, learn to cook, then with my developed skills, create my own recipe by the end of the semester?

Why do I want to learn to cook?

I want to learn to cook because I am 20 years old and have never cooked myself before! As I mentioned in my self introduction, I have lived in Victoria my entire life and because of that, I have never had to cook for myself, and so I do not know how to cook. Although it is nice to come home to a home-cooked meal without having to worry about making it myself, I really want to learn to cook! Therefore, every week I am going to try making a new recipe!

What is my plan for learning to cook?

As I have no experience in cooking, my plan for learning to cook is to use Youtube videos, recipe books, and online recipes for references! As well as not being afraid to ask people who do know how to cook for tips and tricks! I will be documenting my progress and be attempting new recipes weekly! Every week, I will post the recipe I followed, as well as photos of the food I have made! That way, every week I would have tried a new recipe and posted about it!

What are some possible recipes I want to try?

  • Quiches
  • Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
  • Homemade Pizza
  • Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
  • Chicken Alfredo Pasta
  • Spaghetti and Meatballs
  • Pad Thai
  • Chicken Cordon Bleu
  • Steak and Mashed Potatoes
  • Tofu and Vegetable Stir Fry

What is my end goal?

My end goal for this project is not just to learn how to cook, but also to develop my own recipe of some sort for beginner cooks just like I am! I believe I will learn so many important life skills from learning how to cook, but also I will remember what it is like to learn from the beginning, just as most of my future students will be doing and that will help me to understand the frustrations that come with learning.
