Steak + Veggies
This week I decided to learn to cook steak! However, unlike last week, this week I did not follow a recipe! Instead, I asked my mom for her advice on how to cook steak because she always cooks it just as I like it! I used her instructions of cooking it on medium heat for small intervals of time and being generous with the seasoning as a guide to follow for when I cooked my steak!

From experience of eating steak in restaurants, I know I like my steaks cooked rare and with lots of seasoning. So, for my steak, I decided to use butter, garlic, and lots of salt and pepper as my seasoning. First, I seasoned my steaks with lots of salt and pepper, then I heated my butter and garlic on the pan. After heating my butter and garlic on the pan, I put my seasoned steaks on the pan and let each side cook for about 2-5 minutes. Of course, the time you let it cook for depends on how well you like your steaks cooked. As I mentioned, I enjoy my steaks rare, so I only let my steak cook for 2.5 minutes on each side.

This is what my steak looked like while being cooked on the pan. As you can see, I was very generous with all the seasoning and let the seasoning soak up into the steak.

For my veggies, I decided to use broccolini and mushrooms! Overall, I really enjoyed this steak and would rate it a 4/5. I would cook this again, but I think I need to master the seasoning and this time I added a bit too much salt. However, my favourite part by far were the mushrooms! I used the same seasoning and sauces that I used for the steak to season my veggies and it was a perfect balance with my steak! The inside was cooked rare just as I like it! I think I did well on cooking the steaks just the right amount so it was rare, and also at choosing/making the mushrooms. They were the perfect vegetable addition to my steak. I would definitely eat this again and am looking forward to finding new ways of seasoning and cooking steak!
